The seventh generation M5 boasts a roaring twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine, a hallmark of its predecessors, now enhanced with an electric motor. The combustion engine alone generates 585 horsepower, but when combined with the electric motor, it achieves an astounding 727 horsepower and 1000 newton meters of torque. This boost in power also adds extra weight, making it the heaviest M5 to date at 2.4 tonnes.

Why is the new M5 so much heavier than it’s precursors?
Weighting in at 2.4 tonnes the new M5 G90 is around 400kg heavier than the last model. Addition of the hybrid drivetrain is the main reason for the massive increase in weight. Increase in weight can contribute for the slower 0,1 second slower 0-100 than in the last generation.
